In Defense of Deanna TroiHello. In case you were wondering, Deanna Troi is a woman from the series Star Trek: the Next Generation. She is Picard's counselor and can sense emotions. A lot of people hate on her and I see a pattern in the hate and I actually like her and disagree with these reasons, so here's my say on it."She states the obvious! Of course that person is angry/scared/sad/happy/whatever when s/he does that!"While this can happen, she sometimes points it out if it's extremely obvious ("Did your finely-honed Betazoid senses tell you that" "That and [the fact that you broke] the table"), and quite often when it's not obvious at all, she'll point out an emotion. An example is in "Encounter at Farpoint" when she sensed the negative emotions from a creature long before they even discovered it was a creature. That's hardly obvious.
